TRAIN - SHARE - TRAIN OTHERS: THE ACADEMIER'S ROLE

As it's now evident to everyone, especially in these times, in the face of continually evolving technologies and frameworks, it is absolutely necessary for the knowledge and skills of an IT professional to remain constantly updated to meet the needs of any customer. The fundamental basis of a company is composed of its own employees. Therefore, the broader the portfolio of their skills, the greater the competitiveness of the company itself.

It comes then to be necessary for a company to invest its resources in the training of its own employees. What Sorint has done in this regard, through the establishment of the "Global Academia" sircle, is certainly commendable and not to be taken for granted. The opportunity for everyone to ACCESS KNOWLEDGE through courses, updates, certifications and more constitutes the flagship for a company that has identified its strength in the skills of its workers.

Crucial is the introduction of the "academier" professional which is a role responsible for organizing and managing training within the sircle, increasing its firepower by identifying any gaps to be filled with the most suitable approach for sircle members.

Training

Needless to say that for this approach to be functional, the impetus for personal training must first and foremost come from the academier himself. Studying, learning new concepts, new ways of doing things, etc. trains the mind to remain elastic and not become "stale" (which happens when one fossilizes on well-worn knowledge and patterns). Not only does it help understand one's own mindset, but it also helps understand others'. Knowing the reasoning methods, the difficulties or biases of other people you work with promotes cohesion among colleagues and helps assimilate new forms of thinking, thus allowing the development of a training path that is more inclusive and functional to the sircle's needs. An effective training path reduces the time for the training of a potential new hire and brings closer to the TOJ (training on the job) phase, thus the operational autonomy of the worker, reducing costs and increasing productivity.

Sharing

At the same time, sharing/discussing one's knowledge, its problem-solving approaches and EDUCATING ABOUT SHARING information are another key factor in improving the skills of the entire sircle, therefore the company itself. It should primarily be the task of the academier to encourage other sircle members to share their knowledge, so that this approach is passed on to any new colleagues. An individualistic and self-preservative attitude is NOT FUNCTIONAL to achieving corporate goals as it exposes the sircle to the risk of being unable to operate (thus causing a disservice) if specific knowledge is held by a single individual. It is essential that the member does not forget to be part of a GROUP where each one must contribute EQUALLY to achieving the result agreed upon during the sprint: therefore, it is absolutely necessary for all sircle members to have the same information and knowledge to achieve its milestone.

The role of the Member

Training is not to be meant as a passive activity: even when following a basic video course, the mind must remain active, hungry for questions and ready to evaluate the actual quality of the information received. It is not plausible to think of solving doubts by watching N hours of video courses or receiving a pragmatic explanation from someone ("do this, then this, and then this") or again copying and pasting from a pre-packaged procedure. Our experience teaches us that the assimilation of concepts related to the technologies we daily work with must be "dynamic" and also able to adapt in a plastic way to every situation, in a world where each situation is tendentially different from the previous one. One cannot think of solving any problem always in the same way: it may happen, but nothing is to be taken for granted. In this sense, regardless of the efforts made by the academier, the member's willingness to learn is fundamental and, along with that, accepting that so-called "lifelong learning" is a key factor for improving one's professional experience, as well as contributing to the belonging sircle. One never stops learning if one is willing to do so.
